BREAKING NEWS: Kellogg's to debut gluten free soon!
EXCITING NEWS on my favorite subject... CEREAL!! Kellogg's will announce some exciting news within the next 6 months (or so). They will be debuting a line of gluten free cereals and snacks. Yep, that's right. Rice Krispies will be made with brown rice and reportedly will be certified gluten free. (Gotta keep up with General Mills).

Until now, Kellogg's stance has been "At this time, we do not offer products suitable for consumers on a gluten- or wheat-free diet. All of our products are produced in facilities that also manufacture wheat-containing products. We cannot guarantee that any products are 100% gluten- or wheat-free."

"Kellogg's® Corn Pops and Kellogg's® Rice Krispies might be suitable, depending on gluten sensitivity. Corn Pops have a very small amount of wheat starch added, and Rice Krispies have a small amount of malt flavoring, made from barley. Check with your personal physician to determine if these products are suitable for you."

The new line will reportedly have a few different cereals and snacks, all labeled gluten free. I snuck a picture of a box to show you :) Exciting, right?? Which Kellogg's snack or cereal would you most love to see gluten free??

But, for an always certified, 100%, no questions asked gluten free cereal, the go-to is Custom Choice Cereal. www.customchoicecereal.com

I would also love to see Rice Krispie treats Gluten Free!! My son just had a reaction to them but at the time didn't realize they were manufactured in a facitlity with Wheat because the box doesn't state that!

But it looks like Corn Pops and Rice Crispies will not be gluten/wheat free. I am a bit confused...

Yes, they will be (although they haven't announced it yet). The current cereals are not gluten free.

Awesome that Kellogg's is recognizing our needs. Disappointed that the Rice Krispies are not Corn-free.
Keep up the good work Kellogg's!

Color me suspicious... Are they making regular Rice Krispies GF...or introducing an additional product that will probably cost more because it's "special"? If General Mills could make Rice and Corn Chex GF...I would hope that Kelloggs could do the same. Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but I expect that GF Krispies won't be carried everywhere, and will cost more. I hope that I'm wrong!

My guess is that this will be direct competition with Chex so anywhere you find Chex, you'll find these and cost will be the same.

I'm not sold on it yet. If they still contain small amounts of wheat starch, or barley malt. They're not really GF. I'd need to see the ingredient list first.

The gluten free line will not contain those ingredients. The quote I posted is their current stance on their products. The new line will NOT contain any of these. Will take a picture of the ingredients list to show but this is still subject to change since Kellogg's hasn't come out and said they are releasing this line yet.

Wow, where did you find this? The big guys are clearly getting it. I expect this will be self-certified like Post and General Mills, but that works for me.

Would love to see more cereals with flavour go this way. Definitely excited that Pebbles did.

How about in MEXICO?? Kellogg products are everywhere. General Mills doesn't export here and I MISS MY CEREAL! A friend carried down a box of Rice Chex for me and it was . . . well . . . more than exciting.

What was wrong with using the same rice as before and just getting rid of the malt flavoring? If they change too much, they'll change the taste we all used to love.

I hope they're going to do this the right way (new factories with totally new lines, and genuine certification from GFCO), and not the wrong way like General Mills and make loads of us get (gradually) sicker and sicker over several months.
