Attention Gluten Free Canadians: BIG NEWS!

on Tuesday, 06 March 2012. Posted in In The News

Kellogg's Gluten Free Rice Krispies Coming to Canada!

We were the first to announce (and snag our hands on) a box of gluten free Rice Krispies, about this time last year. The one thing I heard repeatedly from readers was that they wish it was available in Canada. And now it is! Kellogg's announced yesterday!

"With an increasing number of Canadians being diagnosed with Celiac Disease, experiencing sensitivity to gluten or choosing to follow a gluten-free diet, consumers are looking for more great tasting gluten-free food choices and we are filling that need," said Johanne Trudeau, Director,  Nutrition, Kellogg Canada. Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® Brown Rice gluten-free cereal is produced in a separate facility that has been making gluten-free products for nearly a decade. Each batch of product is tested to ensure its gluten-free status.

This is VERY exciting news for when I go "home" to Montreal!!

It's an awesome app and another great way to find gluten free foods in your town, or better yet, when traveling. Watch the video below to learn more about the app from the creators, Adam and Eytan.

Gluten Free Football!!!!!

I love football. I love going to football games and the one thing usually missing from football stadiums is gluten free goodies. The Miami Dolphins stadium doesn’t have much for those of us who are gluten intolerant so I usually go prepared but the Green Bay Packers are solving that problem for their gluten free fans. SO jealous!!

McDonald's Goes Gluten Free (en español)

on Wednesday, 08 June 2011. Posted in In The News

Would you like a Big Mac with that Spanish sangria??

Credit to Travel Gluten Free for tweeting about this!

I will be heading to France & Spain in a few short weeks and am looking forward to all of the naturally gluten free food I will get to eat while abroad... seafood, cheeses, chocolates... and wine! But, I must say, this bit of news kind of makes me want to pay a visit to good 'ole McDonald's while we are in Spain.

Please note: I am not condoning eating McDonald's on a regular basis if you should travel to Spain, or here in the States. For me, this would be a one time taste test should I find myself in a food predicament.

Update: I had the burger & bun in Barcelona. More bun than burger but was a fun experience, nonetheless.

Frito-Lay "Officially" Goes Gluten Free

on Monday, 16 May 2011. Posted in In The News

A big announcement from the snack company for Celiac Awareness Month

Snack giants Frito-Lay made a big announcement earlier this month. The company will now be adding a "gluten free" label to their products. While this is great news and a humungous positive steps in the right direction, it seems that testing for gluten will be done independently. This is still great news for the gluten free community because while a lot of Frito-Lay snacks have "always been gluten free", it's nice to know that some sort of testing will now be taking place and the risk of cross-contamination will go down. I've sent an email off to the company to get some more information so I'll definitely keep you all posted!! In the meantime, you can read the official statement:
